Langtang Valley Region and the holiest lake Gasaikunda on the northern part of
Kathmandu is one of the best short flights everyone could consider. These are
the Holy and Natural places which comes under Langtang National Park.
Langtang Region has so many things to cherish, from famous Hindu Sacred Lake; Gosaikunda, Buddhist Monastery; Kyangjin Gompa, beautiful glaciers, Tamang Settlements, flora and fauna and the magnificent mountains including Langtang Lirung. Most of the people are Tamang and of Tibetan Origin who has years of culture. The craftsmanship, dress, traditionally-built stone houses, and the beautifully carved wooden porches reflect their rich Himalayan heritage.
Gosaikunda Lake is the holiest lake associated with legends of
Lord Shiva and Samundra Manthan. This is considered as abode of Hindu God Shiva
and Goddess Gauri. This is the same place where Lord Shiva fulfilled his thirst
with the help of his Trishul (Holy Trident) shoved in the mountains to extract
the water. This lake has formed from the extracted holy water and mountain
melts around the lake. This is the origin of Trishuli River, one of the river
systems of Nepal. Each year on different festival especially on Janai Purnima
on Full Moon Day, thousands of pilgrimage from Nepal and India visit the lake
to take holy bath and perform pujas. Shamans perform their ritual dances and
chants Mantras. The place is equally famous for Hindu, Buddhist pilgrims and Shamans.
Besides the religious side, the lake area is a bunch of natural beauty at the elevation of 4,380 m. In this area, there are around 108 lakes; we can see few of them. View of Laurabinayak Pass at 4,610 m and Tranquil Lake are something worthy to see. Another interesting thing to witness is holy bath and pujas doing by pilgrimages. Please ask for the permission before you take close shot photos.
Kyanjgin Gompa is next stop of our Heli Tour. It is last leg of
Langtang Valley Trek to most of the trekkers. It is big village in that area
with so many tea houses, bakeries, Yak Cheese factories and famous Gompa (Monastery)
called Kyanjgin Gompa, from which the village got its name. The view from
Kyanjgin Gompa of Langtang Lirung (Langtang Mountain), Kyanjgin Ri and other
dominating peaks has no comparison in a clear day.
