Being as a country of highest mountains in the world, Nepal offers various opportunities to the mountain adventure seekers for Mountaineering, Expedition, Trekking and Peak Climbing. Peak climbing is the climbing activities of snow covered mountains which can be done in a same day from base camp which needs physical fitness and technical knowledge. Peak climbing is more challenging than trekking. Nepal has around 1,310 peaks above 6,000 m identified including the 8 of the 14th highest mountains in the world which makes Nepal the paradise of Mountaineers and Climbers. Around one fourth of the identified peaks are opened for mountaineering and climbing.
Usually Climbing peaks fall around 5,500 m to 6,500 m which are also known as ‘Trekking Peaks’ as identified by Nepal Mountaineering Association(NMA). These peaks are the part of trekking and separate permit is required to get to the top of the peak with extra permit cost. The authority of issuing permits to the 27 peaks has been authorized to the NMA by Nepal Government.
Peak Climbing is not as technical as Mountaineering but there are various categories of peaks from Technical, Non Technical, and Challenging to Easy Climbing.
