Overview

Yala Peak (5,520 m) just north of Kathmandu in Langtang Region is one of the easiest and non technical peaks in the central part of the Nepal Himalayas. From the summit of the Yala Peak, we get the astonishing view of mountains including Langtang Lirung (7, 246m), Dorje Lakpa (6,990m), Gangchempo (6,388m) and Shishapangma (8,027m). Climbing Yala peak requires well physical fitness and little to no climbing experience, yet is adventurous and exciting.

Our adventure starts with the 7 hours drive to Syaprubeshi from Kathmandu and follow the trail of Langtang Valley passing by Lama Hotel, Langtang Village, Mundu and to Kyanjin Gompa. In Kyanjin Gompa, we stay extra night for acclimatization and do excursion to Tserko Ri (4,983 m) which gives the best views of Langtang Range and Tibetan Mountains. From Kyanjin Gompa, you trek to Yala Base Camp and stay overnight before climbing the Yala Peak. After climbing, you will return to Kyanjin Gompa and follow the trail back to Syaprubeshi.

The best season for climbing Yala Peak is Spring and Autumn. We stay at Tea Houses/Lodges upto Kyanjin Gompa which is the last settlement in our trip and do camping at Yala Base Camp (4,800 m).

Detail Itinerary


Upon arrival at Kathmandu International Airport, we will receive and assist at the airport. Then you will be transferred to the hotel. In the evening, we will do briefing by Climbing Guide and team. After briefing, we will take you to Nepalese Restaurant to introduce you with Nepalese Food habit and culture.

Activity Duration:

This day, our city tour guide takes you for sightseeing of Kathmandu valley to see few monuments. First, we drive to Kathmandu Durbar Square and pay homage to living Goddess, Kumari and walk around the square. Then we drive to Pashupatinath Temple which is a Hindu Temple for Lord Shiva at the bank of Holy Bagmati River. Then we end our day by visiting Boudhanath Stupa which is the biggest Stupa of Asia.

After an early breakfast, our journey starts with drive to Syaprubeshi. After leaving Kathmandu immediately, we drive uphill through the villages of/around Kakani. On our drive on clear day, we can see beautiful mountain views of Mt. Manaslu, Mt. Annapurna, Ganesh Himal and other peaks of Langtang Range ahead. After having lunch at Trishuli Bazaar, we drive uphill to Dhunche Bazaar and drive down to Syaprubeshi.

Activity Duration:

This is our first day of the trek and we start our trek initially after crossing Bhote Koshi River. Then we follow Langtang Khola. Our trail continues through Rhododendron and Oak forest with several ascends and descends. We may encounter some of the wild animals on the way. After having lunch at Bamboo Village and crossing Rimchi village, we get to Lama Hotel for our night stay.

Our trek starts with ascend through wild forest of maple, oak, rhododendron. We occasionally get the view of Langtang Lirung between the trees. After 3 hours of walking, we get to Ghode Tabela where we will be having our lunch. Our trail continues to Langtang Village which was completely destroyed by Great Earthquake of 2015. Now new Langtang village has been developed. After praying to departed souls because of earthquake we continue for more half an hour to the village of Mundu.

Activity Duration:

We wake up little late and after breakfast, we continue our uphill journey towards Kyanjin passing through yak pastures. On the way, we pass several mani walls, water mills, stones with carvings, prayers wheel and the biggest mani wall in Nepal. We get to the settlement of Kyanjin after crossing many small streams and moraines. After lunch at village, we can visit Kyanjin Gompa which is a major monastery in Langtang Region. Also there is Yak Cheese factory to go around.

Today is the extra night in Kyanjin and we get time to explore the surroundings. We can go upto Kyanjin Ri (4,773m) or Tserko Ri (4,983m) which is the highest point of the trek, offers breathtaking views of Langtang Lirung and Langtang Range. We get down Kyanjin in the afternoon and walk around or rest.

Activity Duration:

We begin walking through the basin of Langtang River and climb rocky glacier trail to reach Yala Base Camp. From the Yala Base Camp, we get the view of Ganchenpo, Naya Khang, Tserko Ri and Yala Peak. After lunch, our climbing guide will give you the climbing knowledge and demonstrate using climbing equipments. And we get ready for the peak climbing next day.

Activity Duration:

Early morning before Sun, we start our Yala Peak Climbing. From the top of the peak, we see the panoramic view of Shishapangma, Dorje Lakpa, Ganchenpo, Naya Kang, Tserko Ri, Langtang Lirung and other mountain including few Tibetan peaks. After spending few times at the peak, we descend down to the camp.

After breakfast, we trek down the same way via Mundu, Langtang village and Ghore Tabela to Lama Hotel. Our trail leads downhill most of the time through beautiful villages and forests.

We trek down the same way and takes around 4/5 hours as most of our trail is easy downhill to Syaprubeshi. This is the end of our beautiful Langtang Valley Trekking. Today we will have good rest after a shower before next day drive to Kathmandu.

We drive back same way to Kathmandu. This is the last day of our journey unless you want to extend your tour. You can do last minutes shopping in Thamel. In the evening, Alpine Holidays will host a farewell dinner to remark the success of the wonderful journey with our trekking crew.
