Yala Peak (5,520 m) just north of Kathmandu in Langtang Region is one of the easiest and non technical peaks in the central part of the Nepal Himalayas. From the summit of the Yala Peak, we get the astonishing view of mountains including Langtang Lirung (7, 246m), Dorje Lakpa (6,990m), Gangchempo (6,388m) and Shishapangma (8,027m). Climbing Yala peak requires well physical fitness and little to no climbing experience, yet is adventurous and exciting.
Our adventure starts with the 7 hours drive to Syaprubeshi from Kathmandu and follow the trail of Langtang Valley passing by Lama Hotel, Langtang Village, Mundu and to Kyanjin Gompa. In Kyanjin Gompa, we stay extra night for acclimatization and do excursion to Tserko Ri (4,983 m) which gives the best views of Langtang Range and Tibetan Mountains. From Kyanjin Gompa, you trek to Yala Base Camp and stay overnight before climbing the Yala Peak. After climbing, you will return to Kyanjin Gompa and follow the trail back to Syaprubeshi.
The best season for climbing Yala Peak is Spring and Autumn. We stay at Tea Houses/Lodges upto Kyanjin Gompa which is the last settlement in our trip and do camping at Yala Base Camp (4,800 m).
