Overview

Mera Peak (6,476 m/21,245 ft) is the highest climbing peak of Nepal in Khumbu, Everest Region which is dominated by world’s tallest mountain, Mt. Everest(8,848 m). Mera Peak Climbing is challenging peak because of elevation and requires basic mountaineering skills and descent fitness level. Five of the world’s highest mountains can be seen from the top of the peak namely, Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Cho-you, Manaslu and Kanchenjunga. For those, who want to experience mountaineering, this is the best option of the peak as it needs rope fixing, training, crossing glaciers and camping at Mera High Camp. Mera has 3 main peaks namely, Mera North 6,476m, Mera Mid 6,461m and Mera South 6,065m. We follow the Standard North Route. The first ascent of Mera Peak via North Ridge was made by French climbers Marcel Jolly, G. Baus and L. Honills.

We do climbing training at Khare before going to High Camp and to the peak. Our high experienced climbing guides will give you technical knowledge, and demonstrate climbing techniques and rope fixing.

During the trek from Lukla to Khare, we pass some of the very remote villages and forest of the Hinko valley. After crossing Zatra La (4,600m), we make a steep descend to Hinko Valley. We set the camp at High Camp at 5,800 m before we finally summit Mera Peak. From High camp, we get amazing views of mountain vista and glaciers. We start our climbing from High Camp early in the morning from North route. Enroute, we walk into the high altitude glacier. South and west route is more technical and difficult. The Best Season to summit Mera Peak is Spring and Autumn.

We, Alpine Holidays make the best of the arrangements of Lukla flights, permits and climbing guides who have experience of climbing mountains of over 8,000 m including Mt. Everest with high technical skills. Our crew members take your best care and make all the safety arrangements, accommodation and foods goes well.
