Triveni Dham is a famous pilgrimage site in Nawalparasi at the confluence of three rivers; Narayani (Gandaki), Sona and Tamasa Rivers. This holy pilgrimage site is sacred as it is depicted in many holy books of Varaha, Himavat and the Skanda Puranas and mentioned in many plays and dramas of Kalidas, a Classical Sanskrit Author. As legends say, Apsaras along with Gods and Goddess used to come from heaven to take bath at this holy river. This Dham is also popularly known as Gajendra Moksha Dham where Lord Vishnu saved Elephant Gajendra from Crocodile Makara.
Just across the River, there is a famous Valmiki Ashram where Adi Kavi Maharishi Valmiki who was thief earlier wrote Hindu Epic Book, Ramayana. Valmiki Ashram is linked to Ramayana where Sita was sent to exile by Rama and her two sons Lava and Kusha were born. This is also the same place where Sita returned to her mother earth and now famous as Sita Patal Temple. She is the daughter of Vumi (Earth) and adopted by King Janaka of Janakpur, Mithila Kingdom.
This tour has been combined with Lumbini and Chitwan, the first national park of Nepal and famous for animal sighting, Safari and Tharu culture. After spending few nights in Kathmandu, we fly to Bhairahawa (Lumbini) and drive to Triveni Dham, to Chitwan and fly back to Kathmandu. In Lumbini, we visit Lumbini Garden to see birth place of Buddha and Tilaurakot Palace where Gautam Buddha spent his life till the age of 29 years before he fled. On the way to Triveni, we visit Ramgram Stupa which is the only original Relic Stupa of Buddha. From Chitwan, you have option to extend our tour to Pokhara. If you have less time, we can combine with only Chitwan or only Lumbini and drive to Triveni to shorten the trip.
This tour can be done around the year but to Valmiki Ashram, during monsoon time, the river gets more flooded and won’t be possible for boating to cross the river.
