Trekking in Nepal

Nepal is one of the pioneer countries to commercially operate trekking in the Himalayan Region. The history goes when Col Jimmy Roberts organized first commercial trek in 1960s, has been attracted thousands of trekkers from around the world. The main reason behind Nepal being popular and favorite destination is it’s great biodiversity as it stretches from 59 meters (lowest) in south and goes to 8,848.86 meters(Highest point) within the range of 200 km, north to south as crow flies. Nepal hosts 8 out of 14 highest peaks in the world above 8,000 m including Mt. Everest (8,848.86 m), the highest one in the world.

The early history of trekking was fully organized camping trek. But these days, as the government prioritizes tourism business and local are directly participating into tourism; there are so many beautiful tea houses/lodges along all the major trek routes of Nepal. Also the good signage and tourist amenities like electricity, wifi and health post through out the popular trekking routes. But still in mid and far western part of Himalayas, we need to go through camping arrangements which are still considered as virgin lands for trekkers like in Dolpo, Rara and Mugu, Khaptad Area, Api and Saipal Himal Base camp.

The major famous trekking areas are Everest Region, Annapurna Region, Langtang Region, Manaslu Region, Kanchenjunga Region and so many others from east to west.

The most challenging trek route is the Great Himalayan Trail, is an extensive trail route from Humla and Darcula in west and Kanchenjunga in east. Trekking has been the best tourism activity of Nepal to take trekkers to Himalayas by experience the culture of mountain people, some doing few days trek while others doing month long treks through beautiful valleys, high passes and barred lands.

Vegetation and Temperature in trekking routes differs as elevation goes higher so does animal habitats. Normally, we need to fly to small airport to commence our trek and different kinds of permits are must from the authority and government. Treks can be done in Nepal all the year around and please consult us for the most suitable time.
