Overview

Lobuche East Peak (6,119 m) is another famous climbing peak in Everest Region closer to Khumbu Glacier after Island Peak. This peak is more challenging than Island Peak but the views from the Summit of Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Nuptse, Mt. Amadablam, and Mt. Pumori is overwhelming. It is located just above the Lobuche Village and the Base Camp is not too far from the village. There are two peaks namely Lobuche East (6,119 m) and Lobuche West (6,145 m).  East Peak is considered as Trekking Peak whereas West Peak is considered as Climbing Peak. There is a long deeply V shaped ridge between two peaks and the steep and long distance makes impossible to summit the West Peak from East Peak. As a reason, East Peak is very frequent for climbing. East peak was first climbed by Laurence Nielson and Ang Gyalzen Sherpa on 25th April, 1984 and Lobuche West was first climbed via South Shoulder on 1955.

As Mt. Everest, world’s Highest Peak at 8,848 m is just a few kilometers away from Lobuche. We expend few more days to go Gorakshep, Everest Base Camp and Kalapatthar which help us to summit the peak as well by gaining the Elevation.

Lobuche East Peak Climbing starts from city sightseeing tour of Kathmandu and preparation. Next day, we take 35 minutes flight to Lukla and follow the Classical Trail of Everest Base Camp Trek passing by Phakding, Monjo, Namche, Tengboche Monastery, Pheriche, Lobuche, and Gorakshep and to Everest Base Camp and Kalapatthar.  When we return back to Lobuche, we follow the trail to Lobuche Base Camp and to High Camp. At High Camp, our crew share us technical knowledge and give us climbing training. They show us to fix ropes, harness, ascender, ice axe, boots, crampons and other necessary equipment's.

NOTE ON LUKLA FLIGHT:
Due to the congestion in Kathmandu International Airport, Nepal Government has issued notice of flight operation to Lukla Airport from Ramechhap Manthali Airport until further notice to avoid Airport Traffic in Kathmandu. Lukla Flights from Ramechhap (Both ways) will operate from March to May and September to November every year. In other months, Lukla flights will operate from Kathmandu Airport itself. Please write us for the latest updates. Ramechhap Manthali Airport is 136 kms  from Kathmandu and can be reached in around 4 hours. Alternatively, we can arrange Helicopter from Kathmandu to Lukla if you do not want to drive.
