Overview

Tilicho Lake and Meshokanto Pass Trek takes us to the world’s highest elevated Tilicho Lake at 4,919 m and trek down to the Mustang valley at Jomsom by passing Meshokanto  Pass at 5,100 m. This is a more interesting trek as it passes Mesokanta pass which is a bit challenging than other passes. From the pass, we see the beautiful mountain vistas of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Annapurna Range, Manaslu range and Mustang valley to the south. Being in the Annapurna region, we experience diverse culture of hilly region to mountain region, all the mountain vistas, waterfalls, beautiful landscapes, dense forests Annapurna has to offer.

Tilicho and Meshokanto  Pass Trek starts with 6 hours drive to Besisahar and further 30 minutes drive to Kudi. Our trek goes on Marshyangdi valley through beautiful villages of Jagat, Dharapani, Chame, Pisang, and Manang. We stay Manang for 2 nights to get acclimatization and leave Around Annapurna Trail to Throrong La Pass and head towards Tilicho Lake. From Tilicho Base Camp, we trek to the most beautiful Tilicho Lake and spend overnight at tented camp before we pass Meshokanto Pass. To cross the pass, we need crampons, ropes and few other types of equipment as the pass is steeper and remains always covered with ice. After crossing the pass, we stay Kaisang on Tented Camp before descending to Jomsom. From Jomsom, we take a flight back to Pokhara and to Kathmandu and end our trek.

The best season for this trek is Autumn and Winter and we stay at Tea Houses/Lodge till Tilicho Base Camp and stay for 2 nights at Tilicho Lake and Kaisang at Tented Camp.  If we cannot cross the pass in the worst case, either we wait for 1 more day or cross Thorong La Pass (5,416 m)  down to Muktinath and Jomsom for which we need 3 extra days.
